Over one lakh farmers will congregate in the national capital – the fourth time this year – on November 29 and 30 to protest against the Centre’s ‘anti-farmer’ policies. Leaders of some parties have also been invited to rally for the farmers’ cause.
The protest is a culmination of different initiatives over the past two years, including introduction in Parliament of two private member’s bills demanding remunerative prices for all crops and freedom from indebtedness.
The bills, introduced in Parliament in August this year, were supported by 22 political parties. The November 29-30 protestswill set to put farmers’ issues firmly on the agenda of next year’s parliamentary polls.
